Strutting Their Stuff…
POSTED ON MAY 12, 2011 BY JIMMY
WHAT: New Leash On Life is hosting a fundraiser this Friday to help launch its program in the Philadelphia region. The organization pairs “unadoptable” rescue dogs from Philadelphia city shelters with a local inmate for training. The inmates then work with the dogs — as long as it takes — before they are ready for adoption. Not only does this help save more animals that would otherwise would not have found a home, but there’s also a scholarship program for the inmates when they get out of jail. The goal is to reduce recidivism rates by giving inmates practical real-world training and job prospects when they are released. (Philly will be one of the first cities in the nation doing this.)
The launch event is being hosted by Neiman Marcus and will set up as a cocktail reception and fashion show — not only for people, but for pets as well, with fashions provided by Buzzy’s Bow Wow Meow boutique. The models will each be walking a dog, whether it’s their own (in most cases a rescue) or a shelter dog that’s currently available for adoption. Models are listed below.
